Access Statement

Introduction

We hope to cater for the needs of all guests in our nine bedroom guesthouse. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please call us and we will endeavour to help.

Arrival and Car Park Facilities
There is a private gravel car park at the back of the Melrose which is lit at night
There are five car spaces.
It is necessary to walk to the front of the Melrose to gain access
We can assist with luggage

Main Entrance and Reception

There is a green awning over the front door saying The Melrose
The door step has a 1 inch bar across it which must be stepped over
The front door is locked but guests are given a key
The hallway is 3 x 2 metres and there is seating.

Public areas

All floors, stairs and landings are carpeted
The Breakfast Room is on the ground floor
There are 13 steps to the first floor and 14 more steps to the second floor
The stairs are 20cm high 26 cm deep and 80cm wide
There is a good banister on the left hand side
Public areas WC
All bedrooms are ensuite and there is a public bathroom with separate WC on the first floor

Breakfast Room

Breakfast is served in the Breakfast Room. There are no steps. Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request
Tables are 70cm high with a central leg to provide lots of leg space

Bedrooms

There are five rooms on the first floor and four rooms on the second floor. All rooms are ensuite with a shower apart from Room 10 which has a bath and no shower; All bedrooms are carpeted and have TV, bedside cabinets with reading lights, comfortable chairs and refreshments
1 Double bedded room (420 cm x 368 cm) with interconnecting single bedded room.(144 cm x 252 cm) Ensuite shower and toilet. The basin is in the double bedded room.
2 Twin bedded room (415 cm extreme x 413 cm) with ensuite shower room
3 Single bedded room (276 cm extreme x 317 cm extreme) with ensuite shower room. The basin is in the bedroom.
4 Double bedded room (335 cm x 323 cm) with ensuite shower room
5 Double bedded room (311 cm x 417 cm) with ensuite shower room.
Second Floor
6 Single bedded room (312 cm x 230 cm) with ensuite shower room
7. Single bedded room (312 cm x 240 cm) with ensuite shower room
9 Single bedded room (312 cm x 310 cm extreme) with ensuite shower room
10 Double bedded room (315 cm x 310 cm) with adjoining bathroom

Additional Information

We comply with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. We have an L2 fire warning system. There are Fire Instructions on the back of every bedroom door. Evacuation from the premises is straight down the stairs and out of the front door.
The Melrose is our home so is occupied 24 hrs. We have an apartment on the ground floor should you need to contact us.
